About

Michael Solomon, vice provost for academic affairs-graduate studies, also holds the appointment of dean of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies. In this dual role, this individual pursues the mission of the Graduate School and represents the interests of graduate education in the Office of the Provost, throughout the university, and in national and international venues where graduate education policy and practice are discussed and debated. More information about Rackham Graduate School is available online.

The vice provost regularly convenes the Cultural Collections Council, a body meant to promote coordination between campus museums and collections. Four members of the council report to the Vice Provost: Bentley Historical Library, Clements Library, Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum, and the Museum of Art.

The Office of the Provost and the Rackham Graduate School jointly sponsor several faculty honors and awards programs, with Rackham administering several programs and the Office of the Provost the remaining programs.
