Highlighting Resources for New and Returning Faculty

Each fall, New Faculty Orientation, hosted by the Center for Research in Teaching and Learning, welcomes faculty from around the globe and introduces them to the people, units, modules, workshops, and paradigms that will supplement their teaching and research at U-M.
During this process, faculty are introduced to resources centered on building partnerships with colleagues across campus, accessing national leaders in professional development and teaching innovation, and navigating classroom dynamics.
NFO also includes an address from U-M leadership. This year, President Domenico Grasso emphasized the role of faculty as public intellectuals, and Provost Laurie McCauley stressed the role of academic freedom and the university’s pledge to support faculty who are the targets of threats and harassment.
