FOIA Exemptions and Disclosures

When does the University typically invoke an exemption in response to a request for information under FOIA? 

The University often invokes an exemption for

• documents that contain private information that is personal in nature, and
• communications within the University that discuss the proper approach for managing the conflict under consideration. 

When no exemption applies, the University must provide the requested documents.
