Policy Violations

If I were to violate the policy, what would happen?

As a first step, your supervisor may consult with the COI/COC manager and possibly others.

If your supervisor and others were to decide that your violation of the policy was misconduct, he or she could take disciplinary action against you. The nature of that disciplinary action would depend on several factors, such as the severity of the violation or its impact on the University.

For example, if the violation were minor the disciplinary action could be a verbal or written reprimand.  However, if you were found to have violated the policy in a serious and intentional manner, your supervisor would take more severe disciplinary action.  In an extreme case, the supervisor could decide to terminate the employee’s position at the University.
