Disputes and Appeals

My supervisor has decided that an activity of mine outside the University creates a potential conflict of interest--but I don’t agree.  May I dispute this decision?   

As an employee, you may dispute any action or decision related to a potential COI or COC, using existing University dispute or grievance policies.  However, you may be required to cease the activity that created the potential conflict pending the review.

Other examples of circumstances where University dispute or grievance policies could apply are

You believe you’ve been wrongly accused of not following the plan that was created to address a conflict of interest that involves you.   (Note: If the plan involved the Office of the Vice President for Research Conflict of Interest Review Committee or the Medical School Conflict of Interest Board, you would need to follow the appeal processes established by that committee.)

and…

You believe the disciplinary action the COI/COC manager in your unit has taken against you for having violated the COI/COC exceeds the manager’s authority under your unit’s implementation policy.
